Wine Salon - the national wine competition of the Czech Republic is the final competition in the system of the National wine competition. In this competition, the best wine is awarded the title of "Champion", then there is the category called "Winners", and the category called "The Best Collection". One hundred of the best wines in the competition are awarded the gold medal of The Wine Salon of the Czech Republic. The competition is followed by the opening of the wine-tasting Wine Salon that is open to the public all year round showcasing the best one hundred wines located in the cellarage of the Valtice Castle.

After the collection for the Wine Salon has been selected, these varieties are purchased in specified quantities and stored in the cellarage of the National Wine Centre. Here the wines are available to the public; the guests have the opportunity to taste any of the presented wine varieties. The wine varieties stored in the Wine Salon are intended to education visitors about wine as well as promote and support Czech wineries, so the general public, including foreign visitors, have the opportunity to taste the best Czech wines all in one place in pleasant conditions as well as getting to know all the relevant information about each wine and winery represented in the Wine Salon of the Czech Republic.
Every wine has its own presentation box in which the bottles are stored. On the box, there is a detailed description of the wine, including analytic data, sensory characteristics, and also the profile of the wine mightiness and structure as well as its aromatic profile.
Such wine can be purchased, but the number of available bottles is limited, and particularly at the end of the season, the sale of some wines may be restricted because a certain quantity has to be kept for the tasting.
In the cellarage of the Wine Salon, there is also an educative exposition about the Czech viticulture and wine regions, the hall of fame of the Czech viniculture, and also a shop where you can buy gift wrappings for bottles, viticulture literature, taster glasses, equipment for sommeliers, snacks etc.
The Wine-tasting exposition is open throughout the year except in January when the wines for the following season are being prepared and procured.

In 1790, the most recent building of the Valtice Castle was opened on the occasion of the Kaiser Leopold II visit: it was the late-Baroque theatre. In the forties and fifties of the 20th century, the theatre was damaged: first through the war, and then later on through insensitive modifications during the Communist era.
